The Australian Cyclists Party has been registered in NSW, according to the NSW Electoral Commission website.
Omar Khalifa, a former chief executive of Bicycle NSW, is given as the registered officer.
Under NSW law, the party also can stand candidates for local council elections.
The party nearly has the required 500 members to register as a political party in Victoria and intends to contest the next State election there on November 29 this year, the party’s website says.
It also aims to get registered in all the other States and Territories.
To register in WA, it needs 500 members who are eligible to vote at the time of registration and not members of another party.
