2012 Road Toll observations
The RAC has published a summary of the Fatal and Serious Injuries on WA Roads on their website.
Do not get distracted by the disturbing pictures…
There were 186 death and 206 serious injuries, about half of them in the Metro area. It is estimated that 65% of kms travelled are in the metropolitan area. The most overrepresented group are males between 30 to 39 years old.
Behavioural factors such as alcohol, speed, drugs and recklessness are the underlying issue in over 50% of the fatalities, and in nearly 50% these were single vehicle crashes (country: 55%, metro: 40%)
