Perth City Link – where is the cycling infrastructure

The Perth Arena opened up on the week-end, with an estimated 25,000 people visiting it on Sunday.  This is a major milestone for the Perth City Link project.

A Master Plan for the Perth City Link project indicates:

Wellington Street to become a grand boulevard with a 14-metre northern promenade, a wider southern footpath, onstreet parking and cycle lanes in a slow-speed environment.

Unfortuantly this has not occured, so we asked the Minister for Planning, Mr John Day, where are the cycle lanes specified in the Perth City Link project and why they haven’t been built on Wellington St which has recently gone through a major transformation, but with no cycle lanes being provided even though they were specified in the Master Plan for the Perth City Link project.

Wellington St - no cycle lanes

The letter to the Minister of Planning asks why cycling infrastructure has not been been provided for this phase of the Perth City Link project, and asks what and when it will be provided.
