The heavy rain has once again seen the PSP underpass under Thomas Street flooded. Tuesday morning it was ankle deep for pedestrians so I presume that the large number of Perth Mod School students who would normally use this access, took their chances crossing a wet and slippery Thomas Street.
The flooding has been happening since the underpass was constructed and despite numerous complaints, has never been properly fixed. Given the number of times that the flooding has generated cleaning up work, I suspect it would have been cheaper to fix the problem at the start. Doubtless this is an intergovernmental department arguement about responsibility, but in the meantime lives are being put at risk.
Have you reported it using the Bike Blackspot App (a must have for any Perth bicycle commuter) and also via the DOT website hazard report site at http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/activetransport/25460.asp. ? No doubt you’ve already done that.
We ALL need to keep our hazard reports flooding in on a repetitive DAILY basis. Sooner or later they will realise the problems are not going away on their own and they will have to fix the hazards, before another tragedy occurs.
May I suggest editing the post to have a title that is actually informative and relevant to the content?
This is near the spot when the then Transport Minister stacked his bike on the Politicians and Mayors bike ride the day after the March hailstorm in 2010.
Transport and PTA definately KNOW> Only constant reference will get it fixed.
