91% cite fear of traffic as barrier to cycling

The RAC continues to move towards a “mobility” (as well as a car) organisation by spending money and time on cycling and public transport issues.

A recent survey promoted on it’s website (and presumably mostly answered by the RAC members) showed that nine out of ten respondents indicated their fear of sharing the road with cars as the major barrier to cycling.

My reading of this is that these respondents, presumably car drivers, judge the driving style of themselves and their peers to be irresponsible and dangerous.

It is sometimes hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The media release is available here. I am trying to get the full survey results.
