City of Joondalup’s Bike Plan 2009 – suggested review

I recently met Mayor Pickard (City of Joondalup) at a council event, where  I suggested that the City’s Bike Plan should be reviewed, as there were several issues with items recently developed by the City.

I have now sent a letter to Mayor Pickard explaining some of these issues which has recommendations including:
City of Joondalup corrects the dips in this area to make it easier for all users of the shared path, including wheel chairs, pram pushers and recreational cyclists.
–       Relating to West Coast Drive RSP development in 2009/10
City of Joondalup ensures that all grant funded projects are completed to minimise capital expenditure, otherwise this will have a significant impact on the City developing all the projects identified in the Bike Plan.
–       Relating to unallocated grant funds for 2009/10 ($275,000) and 2010/11 ($39,000)
City of Joondalup needs to update the Bike Plan to identify what projects have been completed for the period 2010/11 and provide explanations why the remaining projects where not completed. This will assist in determining the priorities and progress of 2011/12 projects.
–       Relating to potentially 8 projects worth around $170,000 which may not have been completed in 2010/11
Copy of the letter is located here.
