From City of Perth:
A new photography competition capturing the faces and places of cycling in the City of Perth
The City of Perth would like to announce a call for entrants for a photography competition aimed at showcasing cycling in the City of Perth. Cyclists and photographers are encouraged to submit images that capture what it is to go for a bike ride in our city.
Photos submitted by the public will then be used in the City of Perth’s Cycle Plan – a plan to help shape the direction of cycling in the city.
Entry for the competition, titled Pics for Pedals, is open now and will close on 26 November.
Winning images will choose from some really terrific prizes, to include a Giant Suede City cruiser bike, a Giant Expressway fold up bike and $500 worth of photography vouchers.
Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said that the City of Perth’s motivation for the competition came from the significant amount of public feedback during the consultation period which reflected that cycling in the city was becoming more mainstream and that people were realising they did not need special clothing and equipment to partake in short City trips.
“We are inviting people to submit images that show the many faces and places of cycling in the City,” Ms Scaffidi said.
“From the occasional cyclist to the day to day commuter, we are hoping to gather a range of images that portray Perth’s physical and social cycling environments,” she said.
“I encourage people to enter images that show what cycling means to them,” she said.
