Sydney plans more cycling infrastructure

A report commissioned by the City of Sydney identifies substantial financial benefits as a result of increasing the network of cycle paths, to the tune of a benefit of $3.88 for every dollar spent.

The economic benefits of cycling are calculated at about 80 cents per km cycled, which is similar to the cost benefit stated by the promoters of Velib. Means that if I cycle from Bassendean to work and home I can have coffee, cake and a couple of cognacs at the King Street Cafe.
