What do women want? (How to get more cyclists on the road)
This article in the Scientific American suggests that the proportion of women who cycle in a locality is the best measure to determine if that place is cycle friendly. If women’s concerns about safety and utility are addressed a better cycling environment results. Women will choose quiet residential streets with special traffic calming features for bicycles over more direct routes, which demand riding in on-street bike lanes.
..mmm, so women want safety and utility … sounds just like marriage (without the kids …) -:)
